Lockdown in Mumbai

The situation in state of Maharashtra is extremely grave. The situation seems similar to what happened in Italy last March. 

Hospitals are running out of oxygen. Patients are being treated in parking lots. Stadiums/parks/community halls/auditoriums/arenas have been converted into temporary hospitals.

The state Government of Maharashtra has declared a lockdown effective 8pm on Monday 05 -April-2021.

The following rules will apply on Monday, 05-Apr-21:

▪Curfew imposed at night – from 8PM to 7AM on weekdays (Mon to Fri)

▪Curfew imposed on weekends. No one can move in public without valid reason/permission

▪Public gathering restricted to 5 people

▪Government offices to works with 50% staff only. Visitors will not be permitted

▪Private company offices must remain closed

▪Factories & Manufacturing Units can remain open but they have follow strict Social distancing guidelines. All workers of factories must be vaccinated at earliest

▪All Shops, Markets, Restaurants, Bars, Shopping Malls, Cinema Halls, Drama Theatre, Amusement Parks, Arcades, Water Parks, Clubs, Swimming Pools, Religious Places of Worship, Schools, Colleges to remain closed

▪Ecommerce & Food deliveries are permitted

These rules are valid until 30 Apr 2021

How this will affect on Shipping & Logistics Industry

▪Airports Affected – Mumbai Airport

▪Seaports Affected – Nhava Sheva

▪Dry Ports Affected – Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Nashik

▪Mumbai is the financial capital of India and most airlines/shipping lines/Banks/logistics companies are headquartered here

▪Operations & Response times of airlines/shipping lines will be affected

How this affects Clearship

▪Clearship Head office is in Mumbai

▪Since transport of goods falls under “essential services” we will be permitted to keep our offices open

▪We have decided to implement Work From Home for most of our staff in Mumbai Offices

▪Shipments from POL Nhava Sheva and AOL Mumbai – will be affected

▪Others States in India are also recording an increase in Covid 19 infections

▪We are predicting that a lockdown will be implemented in other states by 15th April
