Railway, key to the sustainability of intermodal transport

“The combination of road and rail transport would bring with it a decrease of at least 85% of the GHG emissions generated by road transport in Mexico”, comments the director of Multimodal Solutions Cargo.

Faced with the environmental challenges that merchandise movements go through, the use of railways is one of the keys to ensuring the sustainability of intermodal transport and ensuring its consolidation.

Among the advantages, the railway has the capacity to travel long distances and move high volumes of cargo with less fuel use and in a safe manner, at the same time reducing the emission of pollutants and achieving considerable savings of resources in several aspects.(S21, 2022)
