Crowley will launch a new maritime-rail service that will connect Mexico, the western United States and Canada

9 May, 2023

Crowley, a maritime logistics transport company located in the United States, has just presented a new integrated maritime and rail service project that will unite Mexico, the Midwestern United States, and Canada.

Said route will begin in the Gulf of Mexico, from the port of Tuxpan, Mexico to Mobile Alabama, where it will connect with the CN rail service reaching important cities such as Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Memphis, Toronto and Montreal.

This service will start operating in September, the ships will make round trips between Tuxpan and Mobile, with a capacity of up to 1,000 TEU and more than 200 refrigerated containers.

This is an alliance with Canadian National, who will support expanding the market reach, as well as faster and more reliable transportation in North America. Brett Bennett, senior vice president and general manager at Crowley Logistics says customers can expect faster transit times that are more environmentally friendly than trucking, requiring 5 to 6 times less fuel per ton shipped.

On the part of Doug MacDonald, director of marketing of CN, stated that this alliance will help them better serve their customers in North America by providing door-to-door customer service without inconvenience.
