Cargo in Mexican ports grows 3.0% from January to August

According to data from the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), the ports that receive international and cabotage cargo in Mexico added a total of 195,606,872 tons of cargo during the January-August period of this year, increasing by 3.0% compared to to the same period last year.

The maritime authority presented a monthly report regarding the movement of oil and derivatives, totaling 71 million 817 thousand 638 tons, which represent 36.71% of the national total. Regarding the handling of containerized general cargo, a total of 40 million 460 thousand 284 tons was obtained, which represents 20.68% of the national total. On the other hand, loose general cargo participated with 10.43% of the national total with 20 million 404 thousand 629 tons. Regarding the handling of other fluids different from oil, 7 million 535 thousand 541 tons were handled, reaching 3.85% of the total cargo handled in the National Port System.
